This year will be the sixth annual Cottingham Food and Drink Festival and we can’t wait to host another fun-filled day for all the family!
The festival, a showcase of the best that Yorkshire’s food and drink producers have to offer, started in 2013 and has grown year-on-year, to giving 30,000 people a day to buy from the exceptional producers and street food vendors in September 2017. This year, the event which is held in Cottingham village centre will be bigger than ever, with over 100 stalls attending with products ranging from artisan breads, cured meats, cheeses, locally produced beers and wines and much more!
On the Market Green, be sure to check out the cookery demonstrations held throughout the day from the best local chefs on how to prepare some of the ingredients you will see sold by producers. Last year, Ready Steady Cook and Saturday Kitchen star Brian Turner proved to be a hit with the audience, and there will be more exciting demonstrations this year.
So on Sunday 16th September if you fancy treating yourself to a few culinary delights, learning a few tips for the kitchen and helping our local food and drink producers, come down to the festival!
We’ll see you there!
Festival Organising Team
Helen Green – Founder
Helen is a ward councillor in Cottingham and founded the festival in 2013 as a way to raise awareness of what Yorkshire’s food and drink producers have to offer, as well as the great businesses in Cottingham.
Organising the event, only made possible through donations from our wonderful local sponsors, she was delighted that the festival was short listed for a Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Award (REYTA) in the remarkable small tourism event category in 2016.
With such recognition for an event that is run non-for-profit, Helen hopes that the success already achieved of the event can grow further, to fully show the best that the region and particularly Cottingham can offer.
Mike Medini – Assistant Organiser
Mike is also a ward councillor in Cottingham, and organises the event with Helen in order to help Cottingham’s businesses flourish. He hopes that by visiting the village, you will be able to experience the fantastic local pubs, shops and cafes here and keep coming back!
Mike encourages anyone who wants to see our local businesses and economy in Cottingham and the surrounding area improve to become a volunteer, and help the event become bigger and better than ever!
Helen and Mike hope that you will have a fantastic day at the festival, and if you have any questions about the day’s events or becoming a volunteer, don’t hesitate to get in touch through the details below!
